How to Wallpaper the Inside of Your Shelves
Dress up plain shelves with a colorful wallpaper border. When
finished, you will have a fresh new dining area!
Tips & Creative Alternatives:
- For a highly textured look, eliminate the paint and choose both a
wallpaper and coordinating border when covering tall shelves.
First wallpaper the back and sides of the shelf with a very subtle
print. Then apply a border at the top and bottom edges of the
shelf as shown.
- To provide unity the shelves as well as make the cabinet appear
larger, wallpaper the shelf itself as well as the back and
sides. A light color choice will brighten the inside of a dark
cabinet. A dark color can provide a dramatic backdrop for
unusual china.
- Before you shop, measure the length, depth and height of each
shelf. Count the number of shelves. Choose from borders
that measure 1/3 or less the height of your shelves.
Materials Needed:
- Wallpaper border - purchase 2 times the width and 4 times the depth
of each shelf. Add the length of the pattern repeat for
each length purchased.
Tools:
- razor knife and single edge blades
- broad blade or putty knife
- bucket, warm water and cleanup brush
