Fashion a New Look for Fall with
Fabulous Fabrics From Waverly

As the weather turns cooler and we begin spending more time indoors, we start paying closer attention to those rooms we’ve breezily passed through on our way to outdoor fun during the summer. If you’re not happy with what you see, it may be time to refresh the space with new fabrics and accessories in warmer colors that boast opulent patterns and textures that are more in tune with fall and winter. A few simple changes such as new drapery panels in a soft velvet, for example, lots of decorative throw pillows in deep jewel tones or elegantly patterned slipcovers can make all the difference.

To get you started we feature three rooms filled with luxurious fabrics in rich colors that boast an array of intriguing textures and intricate design motifs. These textiles from four new Waverly collections -- Deluxe, Natural Elegance, Metamorphosis III and Ornamenta– are available at Jo-Ann fabric stores and through the Jo-Ann catalog.

For starters, consider the stylish, yet serene, library pictured above where a palette of warm earth tones, showcased in a mix of inviting textures, creates a welcoming space for relaxation or quiet contemplation. Here you can curl up with a good book in comfort in a roomy club chair upholstered in Cacharelle – Sienna, a deliciously soft cotton velvet printed with an intricate paisley pattern. The ottoman (and a companion pillow on the chair) are in Divine Damask – Terra Cotta, a fine chenille imprinted with exotic pearlescent medallions. Alana Stripe – Autumn, seen on the larger throw pillow and the drapery panels, is a woven polyester taffeta that offers a bit more sheen to the room. The window treatment is elegantly finished in a graceful valance fashioned from Opulent Damask – Amber. Completing the space, the stately slipper chair at the writing desk is handsomely done in Clubroom Paisley – Java, a richly textured slub-accented chenille.

In the living room, dramatic, contemporary jewel tones and diverse textures meld with classic 18th century designs to create a space where the best of both worlds meet. The pillow-filled sofa is upholstered in Clubroom Paisley – Crimson, a different shade but the same large scale chenille paisley seen on the coffee-colored slipper chair in the library. The club chair is upholstered in another familiar fabric, Divine Damask. Here the fine chenille is in a rich lacquer tone instead of the terra cotta on the library’s ottoman. The living room’s oversized ottoman, which serves as a coffee table, provides nice contrast in wheat-colored Flocked Foliage. The raised-thread plaid of Davenport – Jewel, seen on the wood-framed arm chair, nicely pulls the room’s color scheme together. The same is true of the Garden Grandeur – Lacquer draperies. Here there’s an added textural dimension, as well, with the golden bouquets of the printed pattern echoing the stylized flowers of the high count cotton jacquard base fabric.

While you may not immediately recognize them, all of the fabrics in this luxurious bedroom have been used in the library and living room. The vibrant shades of crimson, lacquer and sienna, however, here give way to more soothing spa tones, and what a different the change in color makes. Texture, however, is still an important component of the design scheme, lending richness to the welcoming surroundings.

The multi-patterned bed illustrates how beautifully these patterns complement one another. The richly designed cotton jacquard duvet, Garden Grandeur – Spa, reverses to the sophisticated Sanctuary Stripe – Spa, the same fabric used for the draperies. Clubroom Paisley – Spa, the deliciously soft chenille paisley, has been used for the throw at the foot of the bed and for the window-seat cushion. The tailored dust ruffle is fashioned from Divine Damask – Tobacco, while the walls of the room have been covered with Opulent Damask – Eucalyptus. All of the fabrics have also been stitched into an array of pillows and shams, making the bed still more sumptuous.

As you can see, it’s easy to beautifully welcome the season with a little help from Waverly. For more information on specific fabrics shown, go to the Product Finder.
